    Redknapp would've had the fans immediately onside. Appointing someone with zero knowledge of the league is not just risky, it's verging on gross misconduct by the board and we deserve to get relegated.

  3. Tottenham upcoming games

    Igor Tudor's first game in charge will be the North London derby in the Premier League on 22 February so he has some time with his players before they take to the pitch.

    Tottenham do not have a game this weekend as they have already been knocked out of the FA Cup.

    Tudor will meet his players on Monday and will get to work to try and overcome their in-form rivals who sit top of the table.

    I expect him to focus on first and foremost that Spurs don't concede too many goals.

    I know that is probably not want they want to hear when they think of themselves as a progressive club that is synonymous with attacking football, but I think he is going to come in and try and get that back three to work.

    Make sure they don't give too much away, get some results there and possibly build. He doesn't have too much time to build.

    I think it will be a 3-4-2-1 but it might be a case of him looking at the squad he has to work with, particularly with the absentees, and maybe going with a different formation.

    Very disparaging remarks about someone very experienced and who those complaining will know little about. He just needs to motivate a group for 10 games or so, that's the remit, nothing more right now. If people were expecting Klopp or Alonso they needs their heads testing, good luck to him

  6. Injuries and relegation threat - Spurs' current situation

    The job Igor Tudor has signed up for is a challenging one and it will take a concerted effort to turn around Tottenham's fortunes.

    The priority for the interim boss will be keeping the club in the top-flight. Spurs are currently 16th in the Premier League and just five points outside of the relegation zone.

    They have registered just seven wins in 26 league matches this season.

    One thing Tudor will have to contend with is Tottenham's bleak injury list. They currently have 12 injuries according to PremierInjuries.com, with Wilson Odobert's ACL the latest addition to the treatment room this week.

    Captain Cristian Romero will also be out for the next three Premier League games as he completes a four-match suspension for the red card he was shown in Tottenham's defeat at Manchester United.

  8. 'This feels like a chance for Tudor to prove a point'

    He feels having qualified for the Champions League with Juventus, which was his main remit and then keeping the job, I think he felt frustrated to see his opportunity cut short during the league phase.

    It is also a chance to prove a point and maybe even some redemption in Europe.

    But the first target will be to make sure that Spurs are playing top-flight football again next season.

    By all means put an interim manager in until the summer to secure Premier League safety. Putting in a guy with no knowledge of the Premier League and no successful coaching pedigree is a recipe for disaster. Just hope there is something left for Poch to come back to.

    Igor Tudor’s seventh-month reign at Juventus came to an end last October after an eight-match winless run in all competitions left The Old Lady eighth in Serie A and 25th in the league phase of the Champions League.

    Eight wins in 17 league games across two seasons meant he left Turin with a win percentage of 47.1%, a dip from his previous records at Lazio – a brief spell that lasted just nine games – and Marseille of Ligue 1.

    Just one defeat in nine after being appointed by Juve in March 2025 saw them secure Champions League football, but three successive defeats without scoring a goal led to his dismissal in October.

    Tudor’s sole season in France saw Marseille finish third behind Paris St-Germain and Lens, although they did actually win more points than they had done when they finished second the previous season.

    The former defender’s only silverware as a manager came when he lifted the Croatian Cup with Hajduk Split in May 2013, taking charge of the two-legged final less than a month after being appointed.

    So…sacked as Juve boss after an 8-game winless streak. If he can’t win with Juve’s squad, he’s got no chance at Spurs. Hopefully he can do enough to keep us up.

    For me, it is quite an interesting appointment, and carries risk given Tottenham Hotspur's league position. Although, if he can steady the ship at Spurs and push them up the Premier League table, he could help to get Tottenham fans on board.

    On Tudor's impact at Juventus when he was appointed last season...

    He was able to secure that target [Champions League qualification] on the final day of the season with a win away at Venezia. I am not surprised he has taken on the opportunity.

    It is a good chance for him to try and rehabilitate his image after what was an underwhelming spell at the start of this season with Juventus.

    He got the job permanently after he made a stand, having got Juventus into the Champions League.

    They were then vacillating whether they should keep him on for the Club World Cup and he basically gave an ultimatum.

    He said "I won't take charge of the team for the Club World Cup unless you agree I will be working in the same role beyond that".

    Hindsight tells us that was the wrong decision.

  13. How Tudor's fine start at Juve came crashing down

    Igor Tudor enjoyed a successful start to his seven-month spell at Juventus after initially taking on the role as interim head coach last March.

    He lost just one of his opening nine games at the tail end of last season, leading Juve to a fourth-placed finish in Serie A to secure Champions League qualification, which helped him earn a long-term contract.

    Results turned for the Croatian manager at the summer's Club World Cup, where Juventus were knocked out in the round of 16 by Real Madrid.

    They had looked in good form after opening with heavy wins over Al Ain (5-0) and Casablanca (4-1) but missed out on a seeding for the knockout round following a 5-2 defeat by Manchester City in their final group game.

    Despite that disappointment, Juve started the Serie A season with three consecutive wins, including a 4-3 victory at home to Inter Milan, but that was followed by five consecutive draws in all competitions.

    Pressure built with defeats at Como and Real Madrid before Tudor's short reign was ended following a 1-0 loss at Lazio.

    Tudor actually did quite well to stabilise Juventus and get them CL, it just went to absolute shambles once he got the contract extension. He definitely shouldn't be trusted longer than six months.
