Zan Vipotnik moved clear at the top of the Championship scoring table as his two goals helped Swansea City see off struggling Blackburn Rovers.

Vipotnik volleyed the Swans ahead from a first-half corner, only for new Rovers signing Mathias Jorgensen to equalise against the run of play as he slid in from Brandon Powell's low cross.

Swansea regained the lead via an own goal early in the second half as Jisung Eom's cross deflected off Blackburn pair Moussa Baradji and Connor O'Riordan before nestling in the net.

Vipotnik then headed in at the near post from Josh Tymon's corner to score his 15th goal of the season in all competitions and his 13th in the league, taking him two clear of his nearest rival, Southampton forward Adam Armstrong.

A fifth win from six home league games takes Swansea up to 15th in the Championship, eight points clear of the relegation zone and seven adrift of the play-off places.

Blackburn, however, are now winless in six games and slip to 21st, only above the bottom three on goal difference.

Analysis: Ismael worries worsen as Swans continue home revival

Valerien Ismael's side were already looking nervously over their shoulders and now, with just one victory from 13 games in all competitions, they are falling deeper into the relegation mire.

Swansea were by no means clear of trouble themselves coming into this fixture – 16th in the table, six points clear of the bottom three – but they are on an upward trajectory under Vitor Matos, particularly at home.

The Portuguese head coach's only league defeat at the Swansea.com Stadium had been against Derby in November, just one day after he was appointed.

Since Matos succeeded Alan Sheehan, the Swans have played with more purpose and posed a greater attacking threat.

That was clear against Blackburn as they pinned their opponents back and took a deserved lead as Vipotnik found himself unmarked at a corner and volleyed in from six yards.

Swansea had other chances, with Ronald and Josh Tymon forcing Balazs Toth into saves, but were punished for a lapse in concentration as Jorgensen drew Blackburn level on his first start for the club since joining from Bodo/Glimt.

That proved to be an aberration as the Swans were ultimately comfortable winners.

Eom's bright performance was rewarded with an unofficial assist of sorts as his cross led to O'Riordan's own goal.

Vipotnik then powered in a near-post header, despite a touch from Toth, from Tymon's inswinging corner to put the result beyond doubt.

'Not the prettiest win' - post-match reaction

Swansea head coach Vitor Matos:

"Not the prettiest one but I think that was important in terms of togetherness and mindset.

"I think it's important when you are not on your best day that you find a way still to compete and that's what we saw, that was what pleased me.

"We showed good mentality to fight back even when they scored and three points are always important wherever it is, that's what we got today."

Blackburn head coach Valerien Ismael:

"The reality is we're missing 13 [injured] players. We are not building momentum. Every game we're losing players, so you need to change the line-up again to give a lot of debuts.

"On one hand, it's good for the academy boys but, on the other hand, it's not good for us. You cannot compete.

"Nonetheless, I think that for the game today, the three goals are avoidable. It's two set-pieces, and the second one, especially, the clearances have to be much, much better. That's why we lost the game today."
