Derry City have completed the permanent signing of defender Barry Cotter from Barnsley.
The 27-year-old, who can operate at right-back or right wing-back, joins the Candystripes having spent the earlier part of the season on loan at League Two Notts County.
Cotter started his career at Limerick before earning a move to Ipswich Town.
He returned to the Republic of Ireland in 2021 and had a spell with Shamrock Rovers before switching to fellow Dublin side St Patrick's Athletic on loan.
He earned a move to League One Barnsley in January 2023 and made 66 appearances for the club before he was released from his contract.
"The standard of the league has improved again since I last played and when I saw the squad that the gaffer has assembled, it looked very strong," Cotter told the Derry City website.
"It's something that really appealed to me and I know I can help the team to challenge for trophies this season.
"I'm very much looking forward to getting started."
Cotter becomes Tiernan Lynch's 12th addition of the window before Sunday's deadline and the Derry boss was delighted to secure the defender's signature.
"Ideally we want two quality players in each position because we'll always have to contend with injuries and suspensions as the season progresses," Lynch said.
"Barry's CV speaks for itself - he's played at Shamrock Rovers and St Pats before getting his move to Barnsley in 2023.
'It's no secret that we've been in the market for a right-back and we're really delighted to get working with him."
