Salford City captain Luke Garbutt has been given a two-game ban and £500 fine following his sending off against Cheltenham Town last month.

Garbutt was charged by the FA over his conduct, along with assistant head coach Alex Bruce, following their 3-2 defeat on 21 February.

Bruce was given a one-match touchline ban for using abusive and insulting words and behaviour to a match official.

Garbutt admitted a charge of failing to leave the vicinity of the pitch promptly after he was sent off by referee Abigail Byrne.

It was also alleged that he, like Bruce, had used abusive and insulting words and behaviour to an official following the final whistle.

Garbutt will now miss Salford's League Two fixtures against Barnet and Walsall.
