Middlesbrough have brought in Jeremy Sarmiento on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion until the end of the season, with Boro having the option to make the deal permanent at the end of that period.
Winger Sarmiento, 23, spent the first half of the campaign with Serie A side Cremonese where he was limited to seven substitute appearances.
Now the Ecuador international becomes Boro's third arrival in the transfer window alongside attacking midfielder Leo Castledine and young full-back Finley Munroe.
Sarmiento has won promotion to the Premier League in the last two seasons after loan spells in the Championship with Ipswich Town in 2024 and Burnley 12 months ago.
"The ambition from everyone at the club is what attracted me to Boro," Sarmiento told the club's website., external "I'm hungry to get going and I can't wait to show people what I can do."
Middlesbrough are only three points behind leaders Coventry City after the Sky Blues' loss at Norwich City on Monday, with the Canaries themselves the visitors to the Riverside on Saturday (15:00 GMT).
