Scunthorpe United defender Jonathan Gjoshe has been cleared to return to training after being injured in the Huntingdon train knife attack.
Gjoshe, 22, had to have surgery after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries when he was slashed across the bicep in the incident in November.
Scunthorpe boss Andy Butler told BBC Radio Humberside that the player was given the all-clear to return on Tuesday and would start training in the first week in January.
Gjoshe joined the National League side in September and had been playing on dual registration for non-league Lincolnshire outfit Bottesford Town on the day of the attack.
"He's been given the green light to get his rehab done here, so it's great to see Jonathan," Butler said.
"It's small steps, see how he goes, not just physically but mentally as well.
"He knows we've supported him the whole way through."
Eleven people were treated in hospital for injuries after the attack on the London-bound train, that had been diverted to Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire.
Anthony Williams, 32, has been charged with 10 counts of attempted murder related to the train attack.
