Derby County forward Andi Weimann has returned to his first club Rapid Vienna after almost 19 years in English football, agreeing a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old spent three seasons in Rapid's youth team before joining Aston Villa in 2007 and going on to score 17 Premier League goals for the West Midlands club.

Weimann also featured for six different clubs at Championship level, including both Wolves and West Brom, although his most prolific spell yielded 50 goals across six seasons at Bristol City.

He rejoined the Rams for a second stint last summer, having previously spent three years at Pride Park and scored once in 25 Championship appearances – the majority of those coming from the bench.

Weimann, who has 26 full caps for Austria, could finally make his first-team debut for Rapid – coached by former Norwich boss Johannes Hoff Thorup – this weekend against Hartberg.
