Derby County have signed Ipswich Town forward Sammie Szmodics on loan for the rest of the season.

The Rams have also brought in left-back Derry Murkin from Dutch Eredivisie side Utrecht on a contract until 2029.

Szmodics was signed by Ipswich ahead of their return to the Premier League in 2024-25 following a prolific scoring season with Blackburn Rovers, where he played under Derby boss John Eustace.

He has found goals harder to come by at Portman Road, with only one from 18 appearances this season, having played for Colchester United, Bristol City and Peterborough United earlier in his career.

Murkin, who can also play as a winger, was born in England but his family moved to Netherlands when he was four and he has only played on the continent.

He made his breakthrough at Volendam and spent two seasons in Germany with Schalke 04 in the second division of the Bundesliga before returning to the Netherlands with Utrecht last summer.

Derby moved to sign Murkin after losing loanee Owen Beck, who has returned to Liverpool after requiring hamstring surgery, having not made an appearance for the Rams.
