Barrow have signed Nottingham Forest defender Jack Thompson on loan for the rest of the season.

Thompson, 20, has played for Forest's Under-21 side in the EFL Trophy, and he was an unused substitute for the senior team in their Europa League win over Ferencvaros on Thursday.

But moving to Barrow represents a first senior one for a player, who can operate as a centre-back or at right-back.

"I'm buzzing and I can't wait to get some men's senior experience under my belt," he told the club's website, external.

Thompson is the seventh January signing for the 19th-placed Bluebirds as they try to move clear of the bottom end of League Two.
