Wes Thomas's ninth goal of the season lifted Notts to sixth in the National League

Notts County moved into the National League play-off places after Wes Thomas scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at Solihull Moors.

The visitors had the best of the early play and midway through the first half had a good chance when Kyle Wootton headed Michael Doyle's cross over the bar.

Solihull tried to respond in audacious fashion when Jamey Osborne went for goal with a free-kick from just inside the Notts half but he too cleared the crossbar.

Notts had been the better side for the vast majority of the game and were eventually rewarded on 72 minutes when Wootton hustled and bustled before squaring the ball for Thomas to score at the far post.

Solihull almost snatched a point right at the death thanks to a Daniel Wright volley but Sam Slocombe was on hand to make a brilliant save.
