Boreham Wood 2-2 Chesterfield

  • Published

Chesterfield survived playing half-an-hour with 10 men as they drew at Boreham Wood, leaving both sides still searching for their first win.

The hosts led after 15 minutes when Kabongo Tshimanga was tripped in the box and then converted the ensuing penalty low to Shwan Jalal's left.

Chesterfield levelled when Scott Boden tapped home Joe Rowley's low cross at the back post, and the Spireites fashioned a 2-1 lead before the break as Jonathan Smith nodded in from a corner.

Matters degenerated for John Sheridan's men as Tshimanga's long-range effort deflected in, and Laurence Maguire - Manchester United man Harry's brother - was sent off for a high challenge on Kieran Murtagh. But they dug in deep to secure the point.
