Jarrod Bowen has scored 21 goals for Hull City this season
Jarrod Bowen broke a 60-year-old club scoring record with both Hull City goals - but their play-off hopes were blunted by a late QPR comeback.
The winger's first-half double took him past 20 for the season and means he has now scored in eight consecutive home games, breaking a record set by Bill Bradbury in the 1958-59 season.
Leading 2-0 at half-time, Hull looked well set for three points, but Josh Scowen pulled a goal back when his cross drifted in at the far post.
And Rangers substitute Tomer Hemed secured a valuable point for the struggling visitors, scrambling in the equaliser from Scowen's cross seven minutes from time.
A back problem had threatened to keep Bowen out of the game - but the forward looked in top form as he forced a fine low stop from Joe Lumley in the opening five minutes.
But the QPR goalkeeper was helpless when Hull attacked again and Kamil Grosicki played Bowen through to steer the ball across him into the far corner.
Rangers responded well, with Nahki Wells denied by Stephen Kingsley's last-gasp challenge - yet they fell 2-0 behind just before the break when Grosicki's chipped pass picked out Bowen, who chested down and volleyed beyond Lumley.
However, Scowen gave the Londoners fresh hope on 62 minutes when his cross deceived David Marshall and sailed inside the post.
Rangers finished the game strongly and Wells went close again before Scowen set up their equaliser, chasing Massimo Luongo's pass and cutting it back for Hemed to make it 2-2.
Hull boss Nigel Adkins:
"The first (QPR) goal it should have been a free-kick in the build-up. He sidefoots it in from 35 yards and we have got to stop that.
"The second goal, the ball has gone out but the linesman can't see it because he is not up with play. Our centre-half is appealing for it and their player scores.
"I am so frustrated that we put ourselves in a position to win the game and we have only got a point."
QPR manager Steve McClaren:
"That was huge. We beat Leeds two weeks ago and I thought that result was a turning point.
"We have been disappointing in the last three games. After being beaten with the last header of the game on Wednesday, on Thursday it was very difficult to lift the players. Friday they were very good, a good response with lots of energy."
"We said at half-time we need to win the second half. Once we equalised we could have gone on and won the game.
"The key was our character. It's a result that we have to take advantage of in the next eight games."
