Shrewsbury Town 0-0 Fleetwood Town

  • Published

Shrewsbury and Fleetwood shared the points after a dull stalemate.

The hosts were first to threaten when top-scorer Fejiri Okenabirhie's effort from the edge of the penalty area was held by Alex Cairns before Fleetwood captain Craig Morgan's 20-yard shot was comfortably stopped by home goalkeeper Steve Arnold.

The best chance of the first half fell to Shrewsbury midfielder Josh Laurent, but he fired off target after being set up by Aaron Amadi-Holloway.

James Bolton drove just wide for the hosts at the start of the second half and then Okenabirhie's shot was well blocked.

Substitute Alex Gilliead was next to go close for the Shrews when he drilled an effort narrowly wide from the edge of the box following a good run.

Arnold needed to be alert to claim an inviting low cross from Ashley Hunter towards the end as the deadlock continued.
