Solihull Moors 2-1 Ebbsfleet United

  • Published

Luke Maxwell scored late on as Solihull closed the gap on the National League top four with victory over Ebbsfleet.

The game had looked destined for a draw after Jermaine Hylton's strike and an own goal from Alex Gudger.

But Maxwell was on hand in the 83rd minute to squeeze a shot past Nathan Ashmore and give Moors a vital win that sees them go within three points of leaders Salford.

Wrexham were the only other side from the top four at the start of the day to claim a win, and it looked as though Solihull would be frustrated for much of the afternoon.

Hylton had already squandered a good chance before firing past Ashmore, and they were limited to few opportunities.

Ebbsfleet hit a post after the break and were soon level as Gudger put past his own keeper but, after a period of pressure, Maxwell finally found the winner.
