Andy Cook and James Norwood continued their stunning scoring form as Tranmere secured second place in the National League following a 2-0 win at Halifax.
Macclesfield's lunchtime win at Eastleigh saw them crowned champions but Tranmere overcame that disappointment by easing into a 2-0 lead inside 23 minutes.
Cook turned and fired home in the fourth minute, claiming his 27th goal of the season and 50th for the club.
Norwood doubled Tranmere's lead when he got on the end of a free-kick to grab his 20th league goal of the campaign.
Halifax missed a chance to reduce the deficit in the 63rd minute when Matthew Kosylo saw his penalty saved by Scott Davies, who redeemed himself having upended Mike Fondop-Talom.
