FC Halifax Town 0-2 Maidstone United

  • Published

Maidstone looked assured and composed as they eased to a 2-0 victory at sinking Halifax.

The Stones hit the front in the 15th minute when Joe Pigott burst into the box to pinch the ball in front of Tom Nicholson and rounded the goalkeeper to score.

Jay Saunders' men could easily have extended their lead before the interval as Zavon Hines struck the post with a bending attempt.

It remained one-way traffic after the break, and Jai Reason netted Maidstone's second with a cool penalty after Hines was hindered in the box by Scott McManus.

Without a win in six, the Shaymen are becoming increasingly grateful to rely on their brilliant start to the season.
