That nightly win means Luke Littler is now three points behind Jonny Clayton in the standings.

Luke Humphries is still seventh with just 11 points, five off fourth place.

Luke Littler looked quite flat. There were points where he was lobbing the darts, not throwing them with the directness that he normally throws. I really do think it was a knock-on from last week.

He's going to need to get back on the horse soon.

Night winner Jonny Clayton, speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought the game was over at 5-2 up for Michael. He missed, he gave me a chance. You've got to take chances. That last leg was probably my best of the game. I'm back on top of the table, Luke Littler can start chasing me again.

On being back at the top of the table: "It feels great to be honest. I know what it's like to be here, I've got the experience, I know what you needd to get to finals night. Take your chances, play decent, you've got a good chance."

On using the bullseye: "I love a bullseye. At the end of the day, I don't mind the bullseye. Sometimes they go, sometimes they don't. Those two legs, they went."

On how he approached tonight: "I'd lost to Josh last week and the week before. Josh just hit every double going last week. It puts you under pressure. Tonight I just hoped for two points, anything after that is a bonus. Another trophy for the cabinet, I'm happy."

On whether the players discuss the table: "Obviously we look at it. We don't discuss it really. You just want to be in that top four. It doesn't matter who you play, you're there. It's anybody's night, hopefully it's going to be mine."

Two thirds of you predicted that Jonny Clayton would win before the final. You were right.

Jonny Clayton looked down and out. He wasn't.

He secures a third nightly win and moves top of the Premier League.

Michael van Gerwen was 5-2 up.

But Jonny Clayton pulled it back to 5-5 and hit two maximums in the deciding leg.

He wraps it up by taking out 41, hitting the nine, then going outside, but then sneaking one into the double 16.

That was far from perfect from Michael van Gerwen, who has a couple of visits without a treble.

Jonny Clayton has some poor throws of his own - including a 32.

But he seals the leg to take it to a decider by taking out 84, finishing on the bull.

That wass a superb leg from Jonny Clayton. Well, until he hit a single one as he looked for a double 18.

Michael van Gerwen sets up tops, while Clayton has double 16 left.

But Clayton takes out the 32 to make it 5-4.

He couldn't, could he?

Oh! Michael van Gerwen searched for a 164 to win the match and gets the first treble, but his second dart bounces out.

He follows it up with another treble 20 to set up 44, but misses both of his darts at double 16 after finding the 12.

Michael van Gerwen is playing exceptionally here. He is averaging 108.

He takes the fifth leg and moves one from victory in another leg where he finds a maximum. Van Gerwen finishes with treble 19 and a double 12.

That was a 12-dart break.

Michael van Gerwen fires in his second maximum of the match in this leg.

He finishes the leg on double 10 following some good set-up play after he fails to take out 99.

Clayton can't take out a second 140.

Jonny Clayton takes out 66 in style with the bullseye and double eight.

He made that look easy as he gets a 14-dart hold of throw.

Michael van Gerwen kicks off the leg with a 180 and is in control throughout.

He leaves 88 after nine darts but can't take it out, leaving tops.

He then checks that out to extend his advantage.

There have been a couple of sloppy darts creeping in from Michael van Gerwen, but he's keeping up the pressure here.

Jonny Clayton can't check out, going inside on double 12 as he looks to see off 81 before going outside on the sixes.
