Luke Humphries v Michael van Gerwen

    Glen Durrant

Luke Humphries has got to do something he's never done in Aberdeen and win.

Champions are made of different things and hen you're up against it, you can often find a way to do it. But psychologically he is up against one of the greats.

I am quite nervous for Luke, I really am.

  2. 'I don't really feel like I have any pressure'published at 20:40 BST

    Humphries v Van Gerwen

Luke Humphries talking to Sky Sports: "To be honest, I don't really feel like I've got that pressure on me because I am so far behind.

"It is one of them games where if I lose I am really desperate for points, but if I win it I am back in with a chance.

"If I can win the night, I'm almost back in the top four, it is a great opportunity for myself considering how rubbish my performances have been. A win tonight changes everything and I give myself a second chance.

"The game is probably bigger for me than Michael but I'm not thinking about it too much."

Our last quarter-final is huge in the race for the play-off places.

Michael van Gerwen holds that vital fourth place as it stands with defending champion Luke Humphries some five points back in sixth.

Humphries is still searching for his first nightly win of 2026 and can seldom afford to fall further behind MVG.

The Englishman is more than capable of putting together a run of wins to surge into the play-offs places but so far in the Premier League, that consistency has alluded him.

If that doesn't change tonight, there is an ever increasing chance he won't be at the O2 Arena to try and retain his crown.

    Result: Clayton 2-6 Van Veen

Gian van Veen gives his play-off hopes a huge boost - and if he continues playing like that, he'll believe he still has every chance of making it to the O2.

The Dutchman averaged 104.32, hit three 180s and was 50% on the doubles, with a couple of ton-plus finishes.

Meanwhile, Jonny Clayton was at 95.14 with one maximum and was only 27.57% on the outer ring.

That is dominant stuff from Gian van Veen.

Can he mount a charge to get back into the top four?

That is a brilliant start to the night.

Just magnificent from Gian van Veen!

He seals a dominant win over the league leader with a stunning 152 checkout.

That is as well as Van Veen has played in a while, perhaps his best performance in the Premier League so far.

Jonny Clayton can console himself with the fact he's already sealed his play-off place - but he may lose top spot tonight.

  8. 11-darter for Van Veenpublished at 20:31 BST

    Clayton 2-5 Van Veen

Fantastic stuff from Gian van Veen as he closes in on victory.

The Dutchman goes 180, 137, 136 then takes out 48 in two darts.

    He's been excellent so far.

    Clayton 2-4 Van Veen

The simplest of holds for Jonny Clayton.

He hits double four to close the gap on Gian van Veen with the Dutchman a long way back.

    Clayton 1-4 Van Veen

Gian van Veen comes so close to reeling in the big fish!

He didn't have to go for it with Jonny Clayton not down to a finish but fancies the big moment but is just the wrong side of the wire.

No bother. He's back to win the leg on double eight.

    Clayton 1-3 Van Veen

Very nearly 4-0 to Gian van Veen as he just misses the bullseye for a 161 out and another break of throw.

But Jonny Clayton keeps his cool, hits tops and gets himself on the board.

    Clayton 0-3 Van Veen

    Glen Durrant

Gian van Veen was bouncing onto the stage and he looks and sounds quite chipper tonight - it is unlike him really.

This has been a very good start, with the bullseye a highlight.

    Clayton 0-3 Van Veen

Gian van Veen is on a roll!

He's the wrong side of the wire on tops for a 160 out but with Jonny Clayton lagging well behind, he is back to finish the job.

Bullseye for the break of throw!

Superb start for Gian van Veen, giving himself a cushion with a 122 checkout.

Jonny Clayton looked ready to take out a ton-plus finish of his own but missed the double 18 for a 156.

    Clayton 0-1 Van Veen

A bit of a let off for Gian van Veen but he gets the hold.

He misses tops at the first attempt to leave Jonny Clayton with a shot at 48.

But an unfortunate deflection for the Ferret sees Van Veen return to clean up.

    Clayton v Van Veen

Jonny Clayton talking to Sky Sports: "It is great news to see the Q next to my name. It is time to relax now and hopefully pick up a few more nightly wins, but great, job done.

"I want to try and win everything I can. I want to keep the winning going ready for finals night."

Jonny Clayton v Gian van Veen

    Glen Durrant
Former Premier League champion on Sky Sports

It is not that positive for Gian van Veen.

He looked absolutely brilliant at the start but he hasn't looked the same since his kidney stones.

It could be an intriguing game, but I wouldn't want to play Jonny Clayton right now.

    Clayton v Van Veen

Gian van Veen talking to Sky Sports on wehther Jonny Clayton may take his foot off the gas now he's qualified: "I hope so! I need to tell him 'you don't need to play that well tonight'. I don't think Jonny is like that, some players may be, but he'll take any point he can and I don't expect any difference.

"I need to get the pints and probably a night win. Hopefully tonight is the night."
