Scotland will be disappointed - you cannot afford to lose six wickets for 19 runs. Credit to the West Indies, after a slow start they got up to a competitive total and they finished well with the ball after being put under pressure.

There are lots of positives for Scotland: their fielding, the powerplay bowling, the way they brought it back at the death. Hopefully they can put a full performance together once or twice in this tournament.

  3. champagne moment

WEST INDIES WIN BY 35 RUNSpublished at 13:06 GMT

A spirited effort from Scotland who landed more than a few blows on West Indies.

The margin of victory perhaps does not reflect how well they played.

  4. wicket

Watt c Powell b Holder 15 (Sco 147 all out)

West Indies' fielding has been fantastic today.

Mark Watt slices a drive off Jason Holder behind square and Rovman Powell produces a smart grab to claim the catch.

  5. Romario x 4published at 13:03 GMT

We asked if Romario the footballer had ever scored four in a row (without another scorer wrecking his streak). Well, he did - in a 6-0 victory for Brazil against Venezeula in 2000.

He also scored four in a trial game against Vasco da Gama - and the club signed him straight away. He helped Vasco to two league titles in four years. Anyway, back to the cricket...

    Target 183

Mark Watt showing a bit of late fight.

Watt twice backs away and biffs Jason Holder down the ground for four.

He then gloves a short ball round the corner to get off strike.

Hopefully Scotland can win against the other teams. It would be good if we can beat England as well, we had a good chance beating them last time but because of rain England got bailed out

  8. Sco 135-9published at 18 overs

Mark Watt and Brad Currie are Scotland's last-wicket pair. They manage to survive a Shamar Joseph over.

    Three singles off it.

Scotland need 47 of 12 balls.

Romario Shepherd walks away with 5-20, what an achievement and what a spell. Scotland were really pushing the West Indies but all credit to the West Indies for winning this game back.

  11. wicket

    Sharif c Holder b Shepherd 0 (Sco 133-9)

Four in five balls for Romario Shepherd!

Did the Romario ever score four on the bounce?

Safyaan Sharif attempts to whack it over mid-of but can only find the hands of Jason Holder.

What a moment for Romario Shepherd, his career and the West Indies. That's exactly what you want.

  13. wicket

    Davidson b Shepherd 0 (Sco 133-8)

    ROMARIO SHEPHERD HAS A HAT-TRICK!

Someone text the legendary Brazilian striker after who he is named to let him know.

Round the wicket from the West Indies quick who fires one beyond a tentative defensive prod from Oliver Davidson to knock his off stump out of the ground.

    Shepherd peels away in celebration.

Right then Romario Shepherd, hat-trick ball...

It looked like Matthew Cross was trying to sweep it. A soft dismissal in the end and Scotland are going to need something magical here to get them close.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.3 overs

    Leask c Powell b Shepherd 0 (Sco 133-7)

Two in two for West Indies, who now have this game well within their control.

Michael Leask with almighty swing of the bat and the ball travels skywards down towards long-on where Rovman Powell manages to take a fine catch.

Powell ends up jarring his shoulder in the process and it looks like he will leave the field for a bit of attention from the physio.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 16.2 ovrs

    Cross c Rutherford b Shepherd 11 (Sco 133-6)

Matthew Cross attempts to open the face against Romario Shepherd and is caught at backward point.

Shepherd saw the Scotland batter moving and perhaps adjusts his length. A straightforward take for Sherfane Rutherford.

  18. Sco 132-5published at 16 overs

    Target 183

Stand and deliver from Matthew Cross to Shamar Joseph.

The West Indies seamer half-heartedly sticks a paw out above his head but was probably worrying about his fingers after Cross boshed it straight down the ground for four.

Scotland required 51 runs off 24 balls. They need a big over from somewhere.

This game may be reaching its climax (and another may have already happened) but the tournament's 'opening' ceremony is just beginning in Mumbai, where India play USA shortly.

It features a light show and a man with a jetpack, who you may be able pick out in the picture below.

I think Tom Bruce felt it was out, probably not his most fluent innings but he managed to hang around. He did a good job with the captain and got Scotland somewhere in this game
