It seems to me that everyone in the ring suddenly realises that it's the end. Before they all stepped away, they were laughing, joking and cuddling, and suddenly it's gone all quiet in the ring.

I think it may have dawned on them that it is all over. The belts are on the floor.

The gloves are on the floor. Katie is there, calling in more and more of her family. It might be a long night of celebrations here.

I can tell you know, though, Katie is setting the agenda.

For a sport that makes you despair more times than you'd prefer, this is the most genuine occasion I have ever experienced.

Every word is from the heart, there is no boxing tomorrow Katie Taylor so there is no need to hedge bets.

It's been wholesome and beautiful, and that is not limited to tonight.

What a career. Nobody who genuinely cares about boxing will ever forget this.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking on DAZN: "We went into this event and I said this will be the greatest atmosphere and greatest occasion boxing has ever seen and Croke Park, you did it tonight.

"There were 83,000 people in here tonight and they are still here. I wasn't supposed to do something we haven't done before. This is a woman who refused to take no as an answer and banged on every door. She's the greatest Irish sportsperson of all time. She made this happen. She made it happen because the entire nation supported her so proudly.

"While we still have 83,000 people, I want Katie to walk around the ring with her gloves and place them in the centre of the ring as we remember one of the greatest."

Katie Taylor, speaking to DAZN: "My dad is here somewhere. My dad was the first person who brought me to the boxing gym as a 10-year-old.

"He taught me how to fight, and he led me to five World Championship gold medals, six Europeans, five European games and an Olympic title, and none of this would have been possible without him.

"Boxing in this country wouldn't be where it is without his contribution. Thanks for everything, Dad. I love you."

"You stayed with me, travelled around the world with me.

"And now you are here with me and it’s amazing. I don’t know any other country that would sell 80,000 tickets for a female athlete. I'm convinced Ireland is the only country. "

There aren't many times in sport that you can go out and end your career in perfect fashion but Katie Taylor has just done exactly that.

She's just become a three-time undisputed champion in front of 80,000 at Croke Park.
