Right, we're calling time on this live text now.

Thanks for sticking with us through the night and into the early hours of the morning.

It was far from peak performance from Anthony Joshua but he got the job done in six rounds and moves on to more serious fights in 2026.

There's more boxing to come in just under 12 hours when Callum Simpson faces Troy Williamson on BBC Three, so make sure you're back for that.

Now go and get some sleep!

  2. What next for Jake Paul?published at 06:33 GMT 20 December 2025

It's pretty challenging to try and predict Jake Paul's next move.

He is currently ranked 15th in the WBA cruiserweight rankings, so he's most likely to drop back down to 15st 10lb and attempt to climb the rankings.

If he does opt to stay at heavyweight then former UFC champion Francis Ngannou was a name thrown about before a deal was reached with Anthony Joshua.

It's also a possibility that Paul will look elsewhere, having previously been scheduled to fight lightweight Gervonta Davis.

Is the rematch against Tommy Fury also a possibility?

Folks who chose to watch an amateur fight a pro can hardly complain it was a circus, It was always gonna be, but it was Jake who made it that way but taking on someone he couldn't fight. It's not easy to knock out someone running away and falling over The circus is due to Jake, AJ just followed and landed once he slowed It's all he could reasonably do.

Dubois put in a commanding performance on her American debut to outpoint Camilla Panatta.

The 24-year-old Londoner boxed with patience and control, showcasing her superior speed, timing and ring intelligence at the Kaseya Center.

Funny some people hating on AJ despite beating a 4 round backwards jogger. AJ is laughing to the bank and by now probably doesn’t even feel he was in a fight, while Paul with broken jaw will spend months in rehab.

    Filip, Montréal.

Lennox Lewis with the voice of reason. Joshua has been away for a long time and will be a little rusty, but he's still a multiple champion with concrete in his fists. It was always going to be a bit farcical facing a You Tuber but thankfully Anthony caught up and showed his upper levels.

When being interviewed in the ring after the fight, Jake Paul said he was pretty sure he had broken his jaw.

He has skipped the post-fight news conference as a result and Most Valuable Promotions chief Nakisa Bidarian says Paul has gone to hospital.

"We think he broke his jaw. He’s fine," Bidarian said.

"He took a shower, he drove himself to hospital. Broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA. The recovery time is up to four to six weeks."

You can only beat what's in front of you, Jake Paul is a fit, strong young man and he ran away for 4 rounds. AJ stalked and finished him, he can hardly be expected to literally run around the ring chasing him. Against someone actually coming forwards it would have been good. AJ would put away Fury who went 12 rounds with Ngannou.

    Mark, Cambridge

AJ despite winning presented as a bit of a “one trick pony”. The trick eventually landed on Paul but if Paul was able to avoid it, surely Fury would be able to?

I mean, it wasn’t exactly vintage. AJ was looking for a knockout early, which has never worked, especially against someone whose gameplan is to run away. How on Earth David Haye can claim that was competitive is beyond me.

    Jon

Let’s face it, Jake Paul spent 90% of the fight running away, then got hit with the most basic combination in boxing (jab to the body, finisher to the jaw) and got knocked out immediately. He’s going to claim plaudits for lasting 6 rounds, but if he’d tried to box it would have been round 1. Absolute joke of a fighter.

I like AJ but why would Fury hesitate? That was embarrassing. Tyson not my cup of tea but he would become a boxing icon for correcting tonight’s circus by saying yes to that awful call out….

Jake Paul was always going to be a tune up fight for Anthony Joshua, but we can expect some tougher opponents in 2026.

Promoter Eddie Hearn recently laid out his plans for Joshua in 2026, telling BBC Sport that Joshua would face a "world-class opponent" in February.

If that fight goes to plan, then we could finally be seeing a match-up between Joshua and Tyson Fury take place later next year.

  18. 'Paul wasn't in good shape'published at 05:53 GMT 20 December 2025

    Joshua beats Paul by stoppage

Former heavyweight boxer Lennox Lewis speaking after the fight: "When Anthony said he'd been out for 15 months, it showed. He needed a couple rounds to warm up and get used to the ring again before he threw those punches.

"He did what he had to do. He had a guy in front of him running around he ring and he had to catch up with him. It really came down to who was in better shape. Paul wasn't in good shape, especially for a big heavyweight like that.

"After a couple rounds it showed, basically he was sitting there waiting to get hit."

I can only assume Jake Paul’s training for this “fight” was to running backwards for 5 miles a day.

Jake Paul has now lost twice in his 14 fights as a professional and that's the first time he has been stopped.

There's a lot of criticism flying around regarding his gameplan of running but we knew it was a bigger ring - 22-by-22-foot - so did we expect anything different?

He will have seen Joshua's devastating knockout win over Francis Ngannou, so should he have just gone toe-to-toe and made it easy?

It was a frustrating watch but really that was his best (only) chance to try and stick in there.
