  7. What next for Yarde?published at 03:25 GMT 23 November 2025

    Benavidez beats Yarde by stoppage

The overriding question for Yarde is where does he go from here?

Another world title shot feels out of the question after losing in that fashion - even if Benavidez moving up means his WBO title will be vacant.

Aside from a defeat to Lyndon Arthur - and he avenged that defeat to win two of the three fights in their trilogy - Yarde has seen off all challengers at domestic level.

At 34 years old, what is out there for him?

"I felt like it was competitive. I know how he comes with good pressure. I was boxing, boxing, thinking middle rounds, the dog rounds, we would exchange.

"He has quick hands, caught me first and hit me with a good shot on the nose. When I took a knee and he hit me when I was down, I was dizzy after that.

    "I stuck in there. I'm a fighter."

There is blood pouring from Yarde's nose and he has swelling under his right eye.

The corner say "we've got to go," before sending him out for the seventh.

But the referee sends him to be checked by the doctor before they can restart. It's all good and they resume.

That extended break might have suited Yarde.

    Benavidez v Yarde

Yarde does appear to have switched it up. He comes out as the aggressor and, for the first time, has Benavidez backed up on the ropes.

Yarde goes at the body with a couple of hooks and follows to the head. Much better.

The Londoner sneaks through an uppercut and Benavidez points to his chest and gestures to say "come on."

But it's a round of two halves. Benavidez steps on the gas for the final minute with some heavy combinations to the head.

Is Yarde conserving energy by only letting his hands go a little bit because he knows it's going to be hard in the last four or five rounds? Because it's odd otherwise.
