What a game to bring the curtain down on the regular season as it all came down to the last kick of the 272nd and final match-up of the campaign.

Tyler Loop sent a 44-yard field goal try wide right on the final play to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a thrilling victory, the AFC North title and final play-off spot - and hand the Baltimore Ravens another crushing loss.

Lamar Jackson threw three touchdown passes, Derrick Henry had 126 yards rushing and Zay Flowers 138 yards receiving and two touchdowns for Baltimore but it was not enough.

Aaron Rodgers looked to have had the final say of a fourth-quarter shootout with a touchdown throw inside the final minute, but Jackson led a stunning late drive to set-up a potential game winner for rookie kicker Loop.

The ball sailed wide though leaving the Ravens crushed and the Steelers elated and through to the post-season - where they will host Houston in next weekend's wildcard round.

Denver did their job on Sunday to confirm top seed and they can sit back and relax next weekend and watch the rest of the teams battle it out on wildcard weekend.

Jacksonville held off Houston to win the AFC South and ensure they have a home tie next weekend while the Texans have to go on the road, and the Bills and Chargers swapped places in sixth and seventh.

And that fourth spot was settled in crazy fashion in Pittsburgh tonight....

    1. Broncos (14-3)
    2. Patriots (14-3)
    3. Jaguars (13-4)
    4. Steelers (10-7)
    5. Texans (12-5)
    6. Bills (12-5)
    7. Chargers (11-6)

    Wildcard games

The AFC looks wide open as you wouldn't be surprised with any result in the first two games - with Josh Allen and the Bills always dangerous and the Chargers rested and with a defence that will give the Pats problems.

The Texans will take their league-leading defence on the road and they won't fear the Steelers.

After all that action nothing much changed in terms of the seedings!

The Panthers claimed the fourth spot and NFC South title courtesy of the Falcons winning, with the only movers being the Rams going from sixth to fifth after beating the Cardinals.

The Bears and Eagles both lost so Chicago remain in second and Phildelphia third - with the result being three tasty wildcard ties next weekend.

    1. Seahawks (14-3)
    2. Bears (11-6)
    3. Eagles (11-6)
    4. Panthers (8-9)
    5. Rams (12-5)
    6. 49ers (12-5)
    7. Packers (9-7-1)

    Wildcard games

How about the Bears and Packers doing battle again at Soldier Field in the play-offs? San Francisco visit Philadelphia with some previous history there as well, while the Rams will fancy a win on the road at Carolina.

    Denver bag AFC top spot

Denver knew that a win would do to finish as top seed in the AFC, and they got the job done despite struggling at times against the Chargers back-ups.

So the Broncos get the week off as they held the tiebreaker on the New England Patriots, who joined Denver on 14-3 by beating the Miami Dolphins thanks to a Rhamondre Stevenson touchdown hat-trick.

    Jaguars clinch the AFC South

The Jacksonville Jaguars hammered the Tennessee Titans to win the AFC South with a remarkable turnaround under first-year head coach Liam Coen - going from 13 defeats last season to 13 wins this year.

That win meant that the Houston Texans couldn't win the division, but they still beat the Indianapolis Colts to clinch the fifth seed, despite CJ Stroud not playing the full game as he was pulled out of the battle down the stretch.

Falcons win sends Panthers to play-offs

A very strange situation with the Falcons and Saints playing for the division title - but not for themselves! Atlanta emerged victorious to hand the NFC South to the Carolina Panthers - who edged out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Falcons, in a three-way 8-9 tie.

Carolina are just the fifth side to make the NFL play-offs with a losing record so not much will be expected of them in the post-season, but they're at home in the wildcard round and you just never know in the NFL.

Bears bag second seed in NFC

Caleb Williams dragged Chicago back from 16-0 down in the fourth quarter only for the Bears to lose to Detroit on a late, late field goal.

The Bears still clung on to the second seed in the NFC though as the Eagles, who rested a host of starters including Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley, also lost to the Commanders.

Matthew Stafford threw three second-half touchdowns to not only press his MVP claims in the final game but also bump the Rams up from fixth to fifth in the NFC and swap places with the 49ers.

That means a trip to Carolina instead of Philadelphia.

If this proves to be the final game of Travis Kelce's career then it is most definitely not how the three-time Super Bowl winner would have wanted it to end.

The game finishes with Shane Buechele throwing an incompletion to Kelce, who then fumbles on the next play. Kansas City team-mate JuJu Smith-Schuster recovers it and a desperation lateral comes to nothing so Las Vegas halt a 10-game losing streak.

After starting the season by beating the Patriots, the Raiders end it by beating the Chiefs in a game which didn't feature a single touchdown. In between they lost 14 out of 15, which meant they came into today's game knowing they would finish the season with the NFL's worst record - and get the first overall draft pick.

Meanwhile, after reaching the past three Super Bowls, the Chiefs have not only missed out on the play-offs but lost their last six to finish with a 6-11 record.

  8. FT: Broncos clinch AFC's top seedpublished at 00:37 GMT 5 January

Los Angeles Chargers 3-19 Denver Broncos

Trey Lance rolls out of the pocket on fourth down but ends up chucking the ball out of bounds, and that will be that.

Denver see out a relatively comfortable victory to clinch the number one seed in the AFC.

Are they set up to march to the Super Bowl?

The Chargers take the seventh seed and will face the New England Patriots in Foxborough on wildcard weekend.

  9. Postpublished at 00:35 GMT 5 January

    And it's happened again.

Trey Lance goes to Tre' Harris again and the young receiver drags his toes to make a remarkable catch, but the officials rule he didn't have the ball fully under control.

Poor Harris has two scores ruled out in two plays.

  10. Postpublished at 00:33 GMT 5 January

Trey Lance finds Tre' Harris for an 11-yard touchdown, but the officials call an illegal formation and the score is wiped out.

Kansas City Chiefs 12-14 Las Vegas Raiders

There was only 61 seconds on the clock but the Raiders, already destined to finish with this season's worst record, have managed to get back in front at the death.

Aidan O'Connell made a couple of quick completions to get within range for Daniel Carlson to match Harrison Butker with his fourth field goal of the day, this time from 60 yards.

There's just eight seconds left in Las Vegas, and no chance of any Mahomes magic to save the Chiefs.

No Jalen Hurts or Saquon Barkley among a host of rested starters for Philadelphia and the back-ups came up short when the second seed was there for the taking with Chicago losing to Detroit.

Nick Sirianni can't be too disappointed as he was happy enough to sit his stars and be happy enough with the third seed - and that's just what he's got.

The Eagles will host the San Francisco 49ers next week in the wildcard round.

  13. field goal

Kansas City Chiefs 12-11 Las Vegas Raiders

The Chiefs force the Raiders to go three-and-out so get it back with 2:23 left and although Shane Buechele begins the drive with a deep shot to Hollywood Brown, a fifth sack on the stand-in quarterback sees Harrison Butker come on to kick his fourth field goal and put the Chiefs back in front with just 61 seconds left.

Field goal - Lions win!published at 00:24 GMT 5 January

    Detroit Lions 19-16 Chicago Bears

Jake Bates slots a 42-yarder with the last kick of the game to ensure the Detroit Lions end the season with a win and take all the wind out of the Chicago sails after Caleb Williams led a 16-point comeback.

The Bears are still sitting in second place in the NFC standings though unless the Eagles can pull a late, late comeback off against Washington.

  15. 'The 49ers would have to like their odds at Philly'published at 00:22 GMT 5 January

    Washington Commanders 24-17 Philadelphia Eagles

    Greg Brady
NFL pundit on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

You can't feel good about this if you're the defending champions. It's not just this game either. They squeaked past Buffalo last week and this was an 8-2 Eagles team after 10 games.

If they don't win today, they've lost four of the last seven and hung on to the division because no-one's been competitive with them. The Cowboys, Giants and Commanders have all played below expectations.

The 49ers, potentially as the sixth seed, would be going into Philly next week. They wouldn't be favourites but they've got a better record than the Eagles. That's the marquee game of the weekend in terms of maybe being an upset. The 49ers would have to like their odds.

  16. FT: Rams clinch fifth seedpublished at 00:22 GMT 5 January

Arizona Cardinals 20-37 Los Angeles Rams

A second-half blitz from Matthew Stafford saw the Rams come storming through for victory against the Cardinals to end the campaign on 12-5 - the same mark as the San Francisco 49ers but they edge the tiebreaker so the Rams will finish as fifth seeds in the NFC.

Los Angeles will visit the Carolina Panthers in the wildcard round next weekend.

  17. Full-time - Patriots to take second seedpublished at 00:20 GMT 5 January

Miami Dolphins 10-38 New England Patriots

It's all over in Foxborough and the New England Patriots have thrashed AFC East rivals Miami.

They've done all they can to take the top seed in the AFC, but it looks like the Denver Broncos will pip New England to top spot.

The Patriots will play at home in the wildcard round.

Los Angeles Chargers 3-19 Denver Broncos

Wil Lutz converts his fourth field goal of the day to further extend the Broncos lead.

Barring a staggering late collapse, Denver will take the no.1 seed in the AFC and secure home-field advantage throughout the play-offs.

  19. field goal

Field goal - Chiefspublished at 00:16 GMT 5 January

Kansas City Chiefs 9-11 Las Vegas Raiders

It's been a rough cameo by Kansas City's FOURTH-string quarterback Shane Buechele as he's sacked again, this time in his own end zone, to concede a safety.

But the Raiders fumble the kick-off return and the Chiefs recover it. Buechele is sacked for the fourth time so Harrison Butker has to kick his third field goal of the day to make it a two-point game with 3:33 remaining.

  20. touchdown

Touchdown - Commanderspublished at 00:12 GMT 5 January

    Washington Commanders 24-17 Philadelphia Eagles

Veteran quarterback Josh Johnson keeps the ball himself to score the touchdown that puts Washington back in front just ahead of the two-minute warning in Philadelphia.

That puts a slightly different spin on the Chicago game as an Eagles loss would give the Bears the two seed regardless. The Bears game is a little ahead of this one right now though.
