Barnet continued their bright start to the season by beating Forest Green 2-1 to remain top of the Conference.

John Akinde missed an early penalty for the visitors after being brought down by Sam Russell, but Andy Yiadom netted the rebound to open the scoring.

Rovers had their chances and equalised two minutes from time when Rob Sinclair fired in from close range.

However, Bondz N'Gala headed home Sam Togwell's corner in stoppage time to secure the win for Barnet.

Forest Green's defeat completed a miserable 24 hours for the Gloucestershire side, who were deducted three points and fined £500 for fielding an ineligible player in their win over Southport on the opening day of the campaign.

Forest Green Rovers assistant manager Dave Kevan told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"It was a shame to lose the game in that manner from a set play at the death. It was a really spirited performance. I certainly thought we deserved something from the game.

"There were one or two decisions that didn't go our way today, but at the end of the day we've lost to a corner kick and we need to do better than that.

"That's our first defeat in four games, it's a long season and there's a lot of football to be played."
