What's your name?
Alistair Richardson

What's your fun on a shoestring idea?
Cub Scouts

Tell us about it:
Taking the monsters camping (and bringing most of them back). Teaching them games that involve a bit of rough and tumble. Daft sketches and songs around the campfire.

cubs on a bridge in a wood
Alistair loves seeing the pride in his cubs' faces when they can find their way with a map and compass.

What do you enjoy the most?
The pride in their faces when they can do things for themselves, like cook a meal, pitch a tent or find their way with a map and a compass.

Who would enjoy it?
Everyone - children to take part and adults and teenagers to help.

Is it good value for money?
Very. Cub night costs £1.50 and they get to play and learn. They also get a drink and biscuits.

Is there any special equipment you need to do this?
No, not to be an adult helper

Got a favourite activity or pastime that costs less than a tenner? Tell us about it!
