Fate and faces: The artist who ‘sold stars’ to make a living
OutlookAvailable for over a year
Lita Cabellut is one of Spain’s most successful painters, but grew up on the streets of Barcelona, selling imaginary stars to tourists to make a living and watching people in order to survive. Adopted at 11 by a wealthy family, an encounter with the paintings of Rubens and Goya changed her life. In 1983, Tami Oldham Ashcraft was sailing in the Pacific ocean with her fiancé Richard when a hurricane smashed their boat to pieces and threw him overboard. She told Jo Fidgen how she was able to survive, against the odds. (First broadcast in 2018) Get in touch: [email protected] Presenter: Andrea Kennedy (Photo: Lita Cabellut. Credit: Bart Maat/ANP/AFP)
