Marking the death of Uncle Jack Charles, the grandfather of Indigenous theatre in Australia. His career in films and on stage shaped the industry over decades. He was a passionate activist for Aboriginal rights and representation and spoke openly about his own struggles with drug addiction and stints in prison, even inviting a documentary maker to follow him through his most turbulent times. He said it was something important to be shown. In August 2021 'Uncle Jack' spoke to Outlook's Datshiane Navanayagam in a joyous and candid interview which you can now hear again. Ila and Coda are co-founders of the UK's first professional trans choir. They are challenging perceptions of traditional gender roles in choirs and creating safe spaces for singers outside the gender binary. They spoke to Outlook's Gaia Caramazza.
