My dad died a Ugandan Aids pioneer

By the late 1980s, Philly Lutaaya was one of the biggest music stars in Uganda. He was a family man too, looking after three children as a single dad. But he was also living with Aids, a disease which was causing widespread devastation across his home country. Despite the huge stigma people with HIV/Aids faced, Philly came out publicly with his condition, the first high profile Ugandan to do so. Like the rest of his family, Philly's daughter Tezra Lutaaya ended up facing stigma too, and had to watch her father deteriorate and die in the public eye.
