Tobacco company works on coronavirus vaccine

World Business Report

Available for over a year

British American Tobacco is working on a plant-based coronavirus vaccine, we speak to board member Kingsley Wheaton. We also have a report examining global efforts by researchers at universities and pharmaceutical companies to identify drugs that might help cut the number of deaths from Covid-19. In recent days, a number of African countries have introduced lockdowns and restrictions of varying degrees in response to coronavirus outbreaks, and the BBC's Matthew Davies brings us a summary. Plus, with toilet paper in short supply in many parts of the world, we hear how there are echoes today of a toilet paper shortage in Hawaii in the early 1970s. And we talk to Izzy Saralis-Wheatly, one of four zookeepers at Paradise Park in Cornwall in south west England who have decided to live with the parrots and other animals they look after until the coronavirus emergency is over.
