World Business Report

Available for over a year

US drugs giant Pfizer says it's about to start studies on both a potential cure and a vaccine. We hear from Berkeley Phillips, Pfizer's UK medical director. Also in the programme, Apple and Google have teamed up to develop software to alert people if they've recently come into contact with someone infected with coronavirus. The BBC's technology reporter Zoe Thomas explains how the tech giants will do this. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called for 'low risk economic activities' to resume from tomorrow. We asked BBC Persian how the country's residents are reacting to the move. Businesses around the world have been forced to close because of national lockdowns, but this has also triggered a spike in demand for online training. And, once considered a relic of the past, drive-through cinemas are making a comeback in parts of America. Josh Frank owns a series of drive-in theatres in Texas and told Rob Young about the experience. (Photo: A researcher works on virus replication in order to develop a vaccine against COVID-19)
