Protesters defy curfews in cities across the US

Newsday

Available for over a year

Cities across America have implemented curfew measures aimed at preventing another night of angry protests over the killing in police custody of the unarmed Black man, George Floyd. However, some protesters have remained on the streets in defiance. Universities and colleges are trying to work out what higher education will look like after the coronavirus. Newsday looks at what it might mean for teaching and the experience of students in the years to come. The african american film director Spike Lee has released a short film as part of George Floyd protests. Lee intercuts footage of his 1989 film Do the Right Thing with that of the arrests of Floyd and Eric Garner.
