Iran has carried out a ballistic missile attack on two US military sites in Iraq. Tehran says it was in revenge for the American killing of General Qasem Soleimani and that the operation is now concluded. President Trump has said damage and casualties are being assessed. He had previously warned of a strong response to any Iranian action. A Ukrainian passenger plane carrying 180 people has crashed after taking off from Tehran. It isn't known whether the incident is related to the confrontation with the US.
