Myanmar's leader Aung San Suu Kyi is to defend her country against accusations of genocide at an international court hearing in The Hague. In New Zealand following a volcano eruption on White Island, six people have been confirmed dead. Nine others others are feared to have died. The French prime minister, Édouard Philippe, warned lawmakers to prepare for a long battle over proposed changes to the pensions system, as more than 300,000 people took to the streets on Tuesday as a transport strike to ran into a second week.
