The conviction of the former Chadian president, Hissène Habré, for crimes against humanity and war crimes in a Senegalese court has been praised as a major step forward for justice on the continent. In Uganda, President Yoweri Museveni is expected to lead an “Anti-Corruption Walk” later today. He is expected to announce the government’s plan to curb the vice. More than one hundred and thirty people have died in Kenya since the onset of heavy rains in October. In one tragic case, rescuers have retrieved the body of a teenage girl who drowned in a river on the outskirts of the capital Nairobi on Tuesday.
