What does a December election mean for the UK?

Newsday

Available for over a year

Boris Johnson has said he is ready to fight a "tough" general election after MPs voted for a 12 December poll. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said the snap poll gave a "once-in-a-generation" opportunity to transform the country. The US House of Representatives has voted in favour of a resolution recognizing the mass killing of Armenians by Turks in the former Ottoman empire a century ago as a genocide. The vote is likely to inflame tensions with Turkey. At least 37 people have died and others are feared trapped underground in a landslide on Monday in the west of Cameroon, officials say.
