Sentamu warns of ‘environmental genocide’ in Nigeria

Newsday

Available for over a year

The Archbishop of York in the UK has said that a slow environmental genocide is taking place in Nigeria’s Bayelsa State. Dr John Sentamu said that oil companies needed to end a culture of double standards in Nigeria. At least 37 people have died and others are feared trapped underground in a landslide on Monday in the west of Cameroon, officials say. The militant group Islamic State has yet to comment on the reported death of its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi who President Trump said died in a special operation in northwest Syria. There is no clear indication yet as to who might take the Jihadist leader's place. But who is likely to follow him?
