Ecuador government caves in to indigenous protests

The government of Ecuador has agreed to reinstate fuel subsidies, after 12 days of mass indigenous protests that paralysed the country. The Kurds of north-eastern Syria have turned to President Assad's army for help, after being left by their American allies to face a Turkish invasion. Spain's supreme court is expected to deliver its verdict in the trial of twelve Catalan separatist leaders over the failed bid for independence.
