China celebrates 70 years of Communist Party rule

China is set to host lavish events to mark 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China; the people of Afghanistan are awaiting the results of the election on Saturday, but after years of war and widespread corruption many people have lost faith in the political process; and California's governor has signed into law a measure allowing amateur college sports players to make money from endorsements and employ agents.
