Thomas Cook collapses as last-ditch rescue talks fail

Newsday

Available for over a year

Thomas Cook has collapsed after last-minute negotiations aimed at saving the 178-year-old holiday firm failed. It has also triggered the biggest ever peacetime repatriation, aimed at bringing more than 150,000 British holidaymakers home. There is still little information about a possible case of Ebola in Dar es Salaam - the commercial heart of Tanzania. The situation has led to unusual criticism of the Tanzanian authorities by the World Health Organisation. The dark comedy Fleabag was the big winner at the Emmy awards, with the show’s creator and lead actress, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, taking home prizes for the prize for best leading comedy actress, best comedy series and best comedy writing.
