Global climate strikes under way

Newsday

Available for over a year

Thousands of people - many of them youngsters - have gathered in Sydney, as global "climate strike" protests get under way in Australia. Millions of children are expected to join demonstrations that follow the sun around the earth throughout the day, culminating in mass protests in New York. The corrupt financial transactions between some government officials and foreign companies should be targeted as the most effective way to curb the violence in South Sudan. This is the conclusion of research by The Sentry, an advocacy and investigation organisation based in the United States. The Hyundai Mercury Prize which promotes the best of UK and Irish Music has been awarded to Dave, a 21 year old rapper from South London who's originally from Nigeria.
