World Business Report

Available for over a year

Streaming music in the UK grew by 50% in 2017, with 1.5bn listens per week. Gennaro Castaldo of the British record labels association the BPI tells us how the change is impacting musicians' income, and we find out more from London-based musician Rondo Mo. Also in the programme, we hear about the impact of sweeping new European financial regulations known as MiFID II, from George Godber, who is a fund manager at Polar Capital. Our regular economic commentator Irwin Stelzer of the Hudson Institute considers whether US president Donald Trump is likely to take a tougher line on Chinese trade this year. Plus we visit a speed-dating event that aims to help mothers returning to work find potential new employers. (Picture: Ed Sheeran was the most streamed artist in the UK in 2017.
