BBC Introducing

Available for over a year

Shropshire roots, Staffordshire spirit: The group which fuses psychedelia, grunge, punk and indie talk live shows, song-writing and the inspirations behind their debut EP. Matty George and Ross Carley grew up in Shrewsbury, where the local music scene shaped their early passion for playing. Matty explored storytelling through lyrics while Ross developed his guitar skills from a young age, inspired by classic Britpop and indie rock. James Hogan, the drummer, was born in Stoke-on-Trent and now lives in Stafford. James Morris, bassist, hails from Sheldon, adding a love of prog and classic rock into the band’s sound. Previously performing as indie-pop outfit Quentin Francis, the four-piece reinvented themselves in 2024 as Retail Store. Their debut EP, In The Meantime was released in September 2025, with the group going on to play sold-out shows with international bands, developing a reputation for energetic live performances.
