Latest News Picks

Available for over a year

The Archers is the world's longest-running radio drama and is celebrating its 75th anniversary, having first aired nationally on January 1, 1951. 75 years on, it's still one of Radio 4's most popular programmes, pulling in younger and older listeners alike. On this special anniversary, Radio 4 continuity announcer and newsreader, Tom Sandars, has been asking some of his colleagues (who are all big fans of the show) why they think people love The Archers so much. Tom's been speaking to Neil Nunes, Tina Ritchie and Chris Aldridge, who share why they enjoy listening, and explain why you should give it a try if you've never tuned in. The Archers is on Radio 4 every Sunday to Friday at 7pm, and there's an omnibus edition on a Sunday morning. The most recent episodes are also available on BBC Sounds. (Image: BBC)
