Available for over a year

The BBC Radio Solent Make A Difference Awards celebrate people who go out of their way to improve the lives of others. Sophia and Emberly were finalists in the Young Hero Award category in the 2025 Awards. The Young Hero Award is awarded to someone under 16 who has made a positive impact in their community or achieved something exceptional. Ten-year-old Emberly from Bournemouth is a carer for her Mum, Jen, and has been dancing, swimming, and cycling to fund raise for Dorset charity My Time Young Carers. Sophia is ten-years-old and from Southampton. She completed three swimming challenges to raise money for Southampton Hospitals Charity, Diabetes UK, and to raise funds to help her best friend, Lily, get an assistance dog. They've been chatting to BBC Radio Solent's Katie Martin.
