Anna Foster met up with with three historians to discuss their book, Newcastle Prison: A History 1828 - 1925. Newcastle Prison was a cutting edge facility designed by architect John Dobson opened in the nineteenth century, however, it quickly became infamous for its overcrowded, unsanitary conditions and harsh, punishing environment. Which led to it's doors closing in 1925, with no trace of the once-prominent structure remaining today. Anna spoke to Dr Patrick Low, Dr Helen Rutherford, and Dr Clare Sandford-Couch.
