Are Christmas tree crops affected by the dry weather?

Farmwatch

Available for over a year

A Worcestershire grower says he's hoping for a wet autumn for his traditional pine trees, and that a lack of significant rain could be bad news come Christmas time. Walter Beard from Leigh Sinton Farm & Nurseries, between Worcester and Malvern, says continued dry weather will result in fewer moisture being retained by the trees, which could mean our carpets are covered with needles, before the big day. He adds that he has to use specialist feeds at night, to keep the trees growing. Image credit: Getty/Ben Stansall/AFP
