Peterborough is the final resting place for a bold and revolutionary project that could have transformed the way we travel. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the prototype RTV31 tracked hovercraft, or ‘hovertrain’ was tested in the Fens – with the ultimate aim of reaching speeds of up to 300mph. But it wasn’t to be.
