SeriesThe Cold War and Vietnam

The end of the Cold War

Bitesize GCSE History

Available for over a year

This is the sixth episode in a seven-part series on the Cold War and the Vietnam War, brought to you by Bitesize GCSE History. Throughout this series, Datshiane and Katie have been exploring the key moments in the Cold War, focusing on its impact in Europe and the rest of the world. At the heart of it all was the arms race, driven by the conflicting ideologies of capitalism versus communism. In the previous episode, they examined the Korean War in the 1950s. In this episode, they’ll turn their attention to a second proxy war: The Vietnam War. They’ll look at the causes of the conflict, key events, and the consequences, including how it profoundly changed America. They’ll be sharing revision hints and tips to help you remember those key facts. There will also be essay and exam tips, a short test to assess your knowledge, and we’ll end with a summary of everything we’ve covered. Additionally, we’ll hear from our time-traveling Bitesize History reporter, who will take us back to a key moment in the event. Remember, it might help to have something to make notes on, and feel free to press stop and rewind whenever you need to. Suitable for AQA, Edexcel and OCR A.
