BBC Radio WM’s Daz Hale heads to Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre in search of ghosts and ghouls. First opened in 1901, The Alex – as it’s often referred to – has seen many famous faces tread the boards there. Everyone from Laurence Olivier to Dame Joan Collins and Sir Ian McKellen. As well as being a popular entertainment destination, it’s also thought to be one of the most haunted venues in the West Midlands. Next up is the story of a former employee – whose ghost is said to haunt the theatre. Since his death, he has often been spotted walking the corridors – wearing a top hat and doorman’s uniform.
