Why are Women Left Out of Crime Stats?

Official figures from the Office for National Statistics suggest that "total" crime has in England and Wales has halved since 2010. But BBC analysis has revealed that these figures, often cited by government ministers, exclude offences that mainly affect women. Examples include flashing, groping, harassment, stalking and many cases of domestic abuse. Sexual assault is not falling and there have also been increases in unwanted sexual touching, rape and attempted rape.
